Welcome to the Yale Graduate Rugby Football Club (YGRFC).

We’re a dynamic, inclusive, and competitive rugby club representing Yale’s graduate and professional student community.

Founded in 2004 at the Yale School of Management by Vipan Nikore (SOM, ’06), the club was originally tailored to SOM students but has since expanded to include graduate and professional students from all departments across the university.

We are a team of passionate athletes from diverse academic backgrounds, united by our love for the game, commitment to excellence, and drive to build a strong rugby culture at Yale.

Our club welcomes graduate and professional students as well as their significant others, creating a tight-knit community that extends beyond the game. Whether you're an experienced player or stepping onto the field for the first time, we provide the coaching, camaraderie, and competition to help you thrive.

With a packed schedule of matches, tournaments, and social events, YGRFC is more than just a rugby club.

Every year, one of our greatest motivators is taking the field against our biggest competitors—especially Harvard. Whether it’s in 7s or 15s, nothing feels better than a hard-fought victory over our longtime rivals.

We don’t just show up for game day; we put in the work together. Whether it’s team lifts, practice sessions, or conditioning, we push each other to become better athletes and teammates.

Rugby is about grit, passion, and respect for the game. It’s also about camaraderie—socials after matches, team traditions, and bonding over a shared love for the sport. Whether it's celebrating after a win, hosting watch parties for Six Nations matches, or gathering for our legendary Kangaroo Court, we embrace everything that makes rugby special.

YGRFC is more than a club—it’s a lifelong network of friends, teammates, and legends in the making. Whether you're here to compete, make memories, or both, you’ll always have a place in this team.

Dues: The YGRFC does have club dues that are applied once a year. Keep your eyes peeled for an email with information on how much your one-off annual dues will be, and how and when to pay. If for any reason you can not pay, we have sponsorship options for you. (Spoiler: no one will ever be prevented from playing for YGRFC for financial reasons - just talk to us).
